Best Restaurants in Bath for Dinner

Ponte Vecchio
This Italian restaurant is perfect for a relaxed, riverside dinner. Enjoy gorgeous views while experiencing mouthwatering Italian dishes that light up your senses. The staff are genuinely welcoming and make your visit feel really special.
We last came for my husband’s birthday – we had a sunset view and they even brought him a little birthday dessert, which was such a lovely touch.
Best for: Couples or a relaxed evening

Chez Dominique
For delicious French cuisine and intimate dining, Chez Dominique is a cosy little bistro on Bathwick Road, just near Pulteney Bridge.
It has a really authentic feel – small, independent, and perfect if you’re looking for somewhere a bit more special without being overly formal.
Best for: Date night or a quieter evening
Tip: Definitely book ahead – it’s popular for a reason

Casa De Tapas
A fun Spanish restaurant, perfect for dining with friends. Casa De Tapas offer a Spanish Tapas menu, a cocktail bar upstairs and a lively atmosphere – great for sharing conversation and drinks. The dishes are full of flavour and well-priced.

We are big fans of Spanish food and love the variety here.
Best for: Groups and relaxed evenings

The Ivy Bath Brasserie
The Ivy is part of a chain of iconic British restaurants – always perfect for a special occasion. We came for a Mother’s Day treat and were thoroughly spoiled.
The interiors are elegant, glamorous and just a little bit over the top – in the best way (my mum still talks about the bathroom decor!).
The menu is a classic British menu and everything is cooked to perfection.
Best for: Celebrations or a stylish night out
The Olive Tree Restaurant
This is one I haven’t personally been to yet – but it absolutely deserves a place on this list.
My daughter ate here recently and said it was one of the best meals she’s ever had. As Bath’s only Michelin-starred restaurant, it’s very much a special occasion, fine dining experience.
If you’re celebrating something or want to treat yourself while visiting Bath, this is one of the top restaurants to book.
Best for: Fine dining and special occasions
Best Pizza Restaurants in Bath
Franco Manca
We happened to pop in here while we were waiting for our train and we were so glad did. The sourdough bases were sublime!
This is the perfect quick pizza stop before a night out or quick lunch.
Best for: Casual dining
Dough
We came here as part of a Christmas trip (with ice skating!), and it was a big hit with the kids.
It’s an independent, family run restaurant with an expert team of Italian chefs.
What makes it stand out is the variety of bases – 13 types of dough to choose from, including gluten-free and vegan options – so it’s a great choice if you’ve got different dietary needs in your group.
Best for: Families and dietary-friendly options
Best Places for Lunch in Bath

The Pump Room Restaurant
If you’re here for a day out and are visiting iconic Bath sites, I highly recommend eating at the Pump Room for a unique Regency experience.

We’ve had brunch, lunch and afternoon tea here and it really is a special treat. From the grand setting to the welcoming staff and live pianist – you feel like you’re experiencing part of Georgian history.
Tip: Try the hot spring water – it’s certainly different! 😅
Best for: A unique Bath experience

Rosarios
Located on one of the quirky back streets in Bath, Rosarios is fantastic for quick authentic Italian eats or an afternoon Aperol Spritz in the sunshine.
Rosarios is one of my favourite places for lunch or an afternoon drink. The owner is lovely and it feels like you’ve stepped into a little piece of Italy.

Best For: Casual lunch or afternoon drink

Abbey Deli
Abbey Deli is on Abbey Green, a picturesque and quaint square in Bath. If you’re a Bridgerton fan, you might recognise it as the Modiste – where all the Bridgerton ladies buy their best attire!
They also serve lovely coffee, and light lunch bites. It’s just as cute on the inside as its gorgeous exterior so pop in for a coffee and cake, or a cup of Lady Danbury’s favourite tea blend!

The Bath Bun Tea Shoppe
A charming, traditional tea room that feels like stepping back in time.

It’s known for serving the famous Bath Bun, and it’s a lovely place to pause for tea and cake during a day of sightseeing.
Best for: Traditional tea and a slower pace
Best Places for Coffee, Tea and Cake

Poppy’s Bakery – Pulteney Bridge
Popular with locals, it’s very small here so often tricky to find a seat but if you’re walking past and do spot one – come in for a coffee and pastry. The views of the river are lovely.

Sweet Little Things
A very pretty café that’s perfect for a treat stop.
My daughter brought me here for Mother’s Day before a Bridgerton walking tour, and it was such a lovely experience. Think beautiful cakes, pancakes, and plenty of Instagram-worthy plates.

Tip: Book ahead for afternoon tea
Best for: Brunch or something sweet
Best Cafes in Bath for Breakfast & Brunch
Boston Tea Party
A solid all-rounder for breakfast.
The portions are generous, the menu is varied, and it’s a good option if you want something filling before a day sightseeing.
Best for: A hearty breakfast
Society Cafe
If coffee matters to you, come here.
Great coffee, simple food and a relaxed independent feel.
Best for: Coffee lovers
Recommended Bath Cocktail Bars

Be At One Bath
This fun cocktail reminds me of the bar in Tom Cruise’s movie Cocktail. The guys really put on a show and their creations are delicious. There’s a lively atmosphere and you can sit out in the sunshine on a good day.
Tip: Look out for Happy Hour 2-4-1 cocktails.

The Botanist
An upmarket choice and the best for signature cocktails. We were treated to a private cellar room for a work celebration. The cocktails were exceptional, crafted to perfection.
Best for: Pre-dinner drinks or a relaxed evening.

If you’re visiting Bath for a couple of days, I’d recommend mixing it up:
