Searching For The Perfect Khao Sok Tree House
We spent a few hours searching and reading recommendations before deciding on our tree house accommodation.
There are quite a few places to choose from that sounded great but when I read the reviews they mentioned critters being inside the accommodation and this completely put me off.
I wanted to see nature and hear it but I didn’t want it crawling over me while I was sleeping. The thought of a poisonous snake or spider cosying up with me during the night was a frightening prospect.
The reviews for Rock and Tree House had zero mention of critters inside the accommodation. There were plenty of mentions about the monkeys that hang around – but this was something I could handle!
Rock and Tree House Resort Bungalows
At Rock and Tree House, the “tree houses” are actually bungalows built on stilts in the forest canopy. Walkways and bridges connect the bungalows to the restaurant and reception, and you are completely surrounded by jungle.
The resort was built sympathetically with the natural habitat at the forefront of the design. It combines the ancient rainforest trees – embedded right into the bungalows – with a pristine modern interior. It is very peaceful and beautiful and you feel at one with nature.

The bungalows’ design allows maximum views of the jungle from every room, including the bathrooms – yes you get a loo with a view!
Each bungalow is well equipped with:
- Air-conditioning
- WIFI
- Tea and coffee
- A hairdryer
- Ensuite bathrooms
- Sliding glass doors that lead out to a private balcony area with day beds.
Sitting out and listening to the sounds of the animals and watch the fireflies glow at night is one of those magical travel memories.

The bungalows vary in size and sleep from 2 to 5 people. The rooms are modern and clean, beds are comfortable, and toiletries and towels are provided.

Resort Facilities at Rock and Tree House
Restaurant & Bar
There is a large outdoor restaurant and bar area, open to the jungle around it, serving meals from 7.30am – 8.30pm. The menu covers a wide range of Thai and western dishes. We enjoyed dinner there, which we thought was delicious.
My only complaint would be the breakfast – it wasn’t great and there were many bees around in the mornings.

Swimming Pool
The rock swimming pool is fabulous. My children really enjoyed it – a highlight for my son who loved jumping off the bridge into it. The pool design makes it look like it’s part of the natural rock face. At night you can see and hear huge, noisy frogs congregating around it.

Staff & Transfers
The staff at the resort are lovely, welcoming and helpful. They can arrange your transfer to and from the airport, and are also happy to organise tours for your group, which you can book when you arrive.

The Monkeys
One of the best parts of staying here for us were the monkeys. As the resort is in the jungle there are lots of monkeys roaming around. One of them has become a little too confident. He tries his luck and breaks into the bungalows if any doors are left open. On the last day he actually mugged my husband for a packet of nuts. You can watch the video here:
Rock and Tree House Prices
Depending on what time of year, rooms start from:
- £37 a night for a double (including breakfast) in wet season
- £92 a night in dry season.
