My Top Riad Hotel Recommendations: Riad Adriana and Maison Dar Saada
Features and Benefits of Staying in a Riad

A riad is a traditional Moroccan house. The house is built around a centre court yard, which would originally have featured a fountain. Historically, well off Moroccan families owned riads. However, in more recent years many have been renovated into guest houses.

Riads are beautiful, mini palace like houses. Their design offers privacy, comfort and tranquillity to its occupants. With ornate features, pillars and intricate mosaics – riads are works of exquisite architecture. Many have a swimming pool in the court yard – a new addition, and hammam spa facilities. The hosts usually serve meals on the rooftop terrace.

Most riads have 7 -10 rooms so guests are treated to ultimate hospitality and have all their needs attended to. Ultimately, riads offer a charming, unique experience and I would highly recommend staying in one during your stay in Marrakech.

Marrakech Riads I Recommend

The 2 Marrakech riads I recommend are polar opposites in design and decor. However, they both provide wonderful Moroccan hospitality, exceptional service, cleanliness and attention to detail. They are in great locations, have fantastic reviews and are reasonably priced.

Both riads arranged a transfer service at my request, from the airport to the riad. We were welcomed with Moroccan tea and biscuits on arrival. I slept unbelievably well on the comfortable beds and tranquil rooms.
There are many riads to choose from in Marrakech. Consequently, we did extensive research and read hundreds of reviews before settling on our choices and we were bowled over by both these accommodations. See my detailed reviews below.
